Crispy sesame bread

Ingredients:

  • White flour: 2 cups
  • Sesame oil: 4 tablespoons
  • Warm water: ½ cup (about 120 ml)
  • Sugar: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Instant yeast: 1 teaspoon
  • White sesame seeds (for bread): as needed
  • A little sesame oil (for napkins)

Preparation:

Activate the yeast: Mix the sugar and yeast in lukewarm water and set aside for 5 to 10 minutes to activate (foam).
Mix the dry ingredients: Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl.
Mix the ingredients: Add the yeast mixture and sesame oil to the dry ingredients and mix well to form a soft dough. If the dough is sticky, gradually add flour; if it is stiff, add a little lukewarm water.
Knead: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 to 7 minutes until soft and elastic.
Rest the dough: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.

Shape the bread: Divide the puffed dough into several equal parts. Shape each part into a desired shape (e.g. round or strip). You can shape them into pretzels or small round loaves.
Napkin and sesame: Brush the loaves with a little sesame oil and then sprinkle some white sesame seeds on top.
Bake: Place the loaves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden and crispy.
